Canadian forester, born June 1941, with broad experience in international technical assistance programmes in the wood processing and related industries.
Staff Member of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) for 24 years.
Since 2001, freelance consultant and President of Eco Projects Industrial Consultants Ltd., Cyprus and Austria. Founded Silkroute Trading Ltd. in 2003 to import bamboo products into W. Canada. Now resident in Vienna, Austria.

1958 - 1963: University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, N.B. B. Sc. Forestry
1964 - 1965: Yale School of Forestry, New Haven, Conn. USA. Master of Forestry
1967 - 1968: State College of Forestry, Syracuse, N.Y. USA. Ph.D. programme in wood products engineering.
Employment:
1959 – 1971: Occupied in jobs related to the wood industry sector including productivity studies, research, training and consultancy bringing me into contact with a wide range of industries and people.
1971 – 1974: Junior professional work at UNIDO preparing and implementing technical assistance projects in the wood processing and wood products field.
1975 – 1980: Timber Research and Development Association UK, provided technical advisory and consultancy services to the private sector and some international work. Responsible for the UK quality assurance schemes for stress-graded sawnwood, finger jointing, trussed rafter fabrication and fire resisting wooden doors. I was Manager of the Industrial Department from 1979 through 1980.
1981 – 2001: UNIDO, Senior Industrial Development Officer, engaged in international technical assistance, and from April 1993, responsible for UNIDO’s global programme in the wood industries sector. This involved travel to many countries and development of an understanding of their needs, conditions and solutions. 2001 – Present: Independent consultant; Concentrating on bamboo and wood industry trade and development. Recent contracts in India, Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia. |
